A New Month

Yes, a new month is here, exciting post for today. Chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday but we will see.

Snow / Freezing Rain

Snow this morning giving way to warmer temperatures but with freezing rain and or sleet. Rain drops starting to fall in Newbern TN at 2:45pm.

Cold

The Siberian Blast is slowly making it's way down to Newbern this early morning. At 2:30am central time this morning it was 14°, now at 5:00am it is down to 10°. How much more will it drop? More to follow later. 6:15am in Newbern now and down to 9°, battery starts to show that its going dead when it hits 10° on the weather station. Getting daylight now and the birds are starting to stir. Ordered a suet cage for the wookpeckers and other birds that enjoy their fat. Going to hook up the 1080p HD webcam today with new software to give it a try, cam might be down an hour or so later. Sunny and cold is the verdict for today. HD Webcam is up and running in720p, couldn't get the software to accept the HD1080p settings, work on that another day I guess.

Not Again

It's Wednesday February 18 and all in all a pretty nice day weather wise. Tonight though a Siberian Blast is plunging towards the mid south region bringing with it record low temperatures and wind chill factors that will be life threatening if exposed for any periods of time. Be safe when outside and allow extra time when driving. Updates tomorrow on the next storm evading the mid south on Friday night into Saturday.

The Day After

The day after winter storm Octavia and all things in Dyer County Tennessee are pretty much still shut down and school has already been cancelled for tomorrow Wednesday the 18th 2015. Not doing much today accept relaxing, I did feed the birds this morning and gave the squirrels some nuts.

Post Winter Storm Octavia

Well Winter Storm Octavia didn't pack as much of a punch as the weather experts we're predicting for North West Tennessee. In Newbern we had approximately 1" of sleet between 10pm Sunday night through 2:30pm Monday afternoon, a few snow flurries mixed off and on. A bit different than the 6" to 8" of snow the experts we're predicting. With 1" of sleet on the roads a majority of businesses and all schools we're closed today and tomorrow being the same. Winter Storm Octavia

We will see what winter storm Octavia has to offer here in Northwest Tennessee. Myself, hoping for a big snow event across the region with little or no sleet.
